House History
William B. Cronyn House, 271 Ninth Street (1856-57). This magnificent French Second Empire style mansion was commissioned by prosperous Wall Street merchant, William B. Cronyn, at a time when Park Slope was still largely rural. By 1898 the neighborhood had changed, and the house became the headquarters of the Charles M. Higgins India Ink Company. In the mid 20th century, it was converted back to residential use.
